FAQ

Straight answers to what people ask most, the risks included.

The basics

What is Icarus?

A Windows program that plays Umamusume: Pretty Derby for you through the game's own protocol. It signs in, trains every turn, races your schedule, answers events, buys skills, banks the parent, runs your dailies and starts the next career.

Does it read my screen?

No. There is no OCR, image recognition or synthetic input anywhere in it. Icarus talks to the game servers the way the game client does and reads cards, skills, races and events from your own installed game data.

How many accounts can it run?

Up to twelve game accounts behind one Steam sign-in, each with its own preset, deck, trainee, parents and settings. Icarus plays one account at a time: Use this account picks which one. Claim on all collects rewards on every account in one go.

Which scenarios does it support?

URA Finale, Unity Cup, Make a New Track and Grand Live, each with its own strategy.

What is the difference between the two training modes?

Algorithmic Training means Icarus plays every turn itself. Independent Training keeps the game's own mode running back to back, with your race schedule and skill lists applied. Pick whichever you prefer per account.

How fast is a career?

At the shipped speed an Algorithmic URA, Unity Cup or Grand Live career takes about 17 minutes: no cutscenes, results screens or animations, at a pace that still looks human. You can make it slower or faster in Speed.

Does it work with the Japanese game?

No. This Icarus is for Umamusume: Pretty Derby Global, on Steam.

Safety and your account

Is this safe for my account?

Automating the game is against Cygames' Terms of Service and carries a real account risk. Icarus paces itself like a person, calibrated from 58 real careers, but nothing makes automation undetectable. Use it in moderation, at your own risk.

Where do my passwords go?

Nowhere. Your Steam session and Data Link passwords are encrypted with Windows, never shown by the dashboard and never written to a log.

Does it need the game open?

No. The game does not even have to be running. Icarus and the game share one sign-in per account, so press Stop before playing an account yourself.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC"

That's Windows SmartScreen, and it's expected: Icarus is signed with its own certificate rather than one Windows already knows, so SmartScreen has no reputation to go on. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

My antivirus quarantined Icarus

Add the folder Icarus lives in to your antivirus exclusions and download it again. If an antivirus or cleaner removes files beside Icarus.exe, the next start puts them back.

Can I change the pacing?

Yes. The Speed tile on the Training tab sets the pause between actions, or a target time for a whole career (Icarus works out the pace for it), or Nflight, which runs with no delay at all. You also choose what uses your speed: careers, dailies, club and friends, everything else. Anything you leave out keeps the shipped human-scale pace, about 17 minutes a career. The faster you go, the less a run looks like a person. Speed applies to the whole install, and does not change Independent Training, which the game's server plays. The limit of twelve accounts and one Icarus per PC stays.

Something not working

A career won't start

The reason is named on the account and in the log. Most often it is a career left half-played in the game, an empty TP bar, a full veteran box or a friend card that is not on offer right now. Icarus can restore TP and clear a full box on its own if you turn those on.

A picker on an account looks empty

Icarus has not visited that account yet. Open the account and press Visit now.

Why did it do that?

Open Logs: Decision reasoning explains every move, turn by turn. The Dashboard's Training evaluation shows each facility's score live.

What does an error code mean?

Help has an error-code lookup that filters as you type.

How do I report a problem?

Logs, Export log gives one .txt with personal details and folder paths masked. Attach it on the Discord.

Data and updates

Where do my settings live?

In folders next to Icarus.exe. Back up that folder and you have backed up everything.

How do I update Icarus?

Icarus checks for new versions and installs a signed update. Your settings and history are kept, and Roll back returns to the previous version.
